A client with bold taste engaged Yates Desygn to transform their sterile kitchen and its adjoining spaces. With a commanding dolomite surround and a steel-topped bar, the island is a true showstopper. The surrounding white cabinetry allows the island to fully draw the eye. Just off the kitchen is a warm, modern breakfast room lit by three Kelly Wearstler-designed pendants hung at different heights to create the look of a sculptural chandelier. Additional appliances were added to the butler’s pantry to create a more functional space and the Ann Sacks mirrored tile backsplash and dark cabinetry are reminiscent of the kitchen. The home’s original study was converted into a sleek wine and whiskey room and the mudroom’s metal mesh-front cabinetry hides custom dog kennels and a cat litterbox.
