Dallas Design Week 2026: A Celebration of Design, Business, and Community

Inside Dallas Design Week 2026

For a few days each year, Dallas Market Center becomes a meeting place for the ideas and people shaping the design industry. Dallas Design Week 2026 has always been about discovery — a chance to step outside the studio, trade ideas, and see firsthand what’s happening across the industry.

This year felt especially significant for Yates Desygn. Across three days, our team moved between conversations about the business of design, showroom visits, industry events, and time with friends and collaborators. At the center of it all was a project months in the making: the official unveiling of our Dallas Market Center Design Ambassador vignette, A Private Affair.

Learning the Business of Design at the Dallas Market Center Business Accelerator

We began Dallas Design Week 2026 with the Business of Home × Dallas Market Center Business Accelerator Series, led by Business of Home Editor in Chief Kaitlin Petersen.

The program holds particular meaning for us because Yates Desygn participated in the first Business Accelerator Series earlier this year. Returning this fall as attendees, and watching the program continue, felt like a natural extension of conversations we believe the design industry should be having more often.

The morning covered the client relationship from several angles: establishing authority and trust, writing contracts that set clearer expectations, and developing presentations that move projects forward with confidence. It reinforced something we’ve learned over the past 10 years. Beautiful design is only one part of a successful project. Communication and trust carry just as much weight as the work itself.

Introducing A Private Affair, Our Dallas Market Center Design Ambassador Vignette

Earlier this year, Mike and Bryan were selected as members of the inaugural class of Dallas Market Center Design Ambassadors, an initiative bringing together Dallas designers with the showrooms, brands, and resources of Dallas Market Center. As part of the program, each Ambassador was invited to develop a vignette using pieces sourced throughout the Market.

For Yates Desygn, the assignment immediately became an exercise in storytelling. We called ours A Private Affair.

The concept began with an imagined character — a man whose public life reveals only part of who he is. Behind closed doors exists another side, one told through the objects he has collected, the places he has traveled, the records he plays, the books he keeps nearby, and the people he chooses to invite in. Rather than building a showroom vignette that simply presented beautiful pieces, we wanted the room to feel as though someone had just stepped out of it. Every selection became part of that narrative.

A room can be beautiful and still say nothing. We wanted this one to talk back.

The result is layered, collected, masculine, and deeply personal. It doesn’t reveal everything about itself right away; it rewards a closer look. That’s something fundamental about our work at Yates Desygn. The most memorable interiors are specific, carrying the fingerprints of the people who live in them.

A Private Affair was on view throughout Dallas Design Week 2026, and on September 16, alongside the newest installation from fellow Design Ambassador Burkle Creative, Dallas Market Center hosted the official Design Ambassador Vignette Reveal Party.

For the occasion, we invited Williams Cigars to hand-roll cigars inside the room. Watching him work a leaf by hand, inside a room built around the idea of a life lived behind closed doors, felt less like event entertainment and more like another layer of the character we had imagined.

For one evening, with music playing and friends gathered, the vignette stopped feeling like an installation and became the private room we had imagined all along.

The Collaborative Spirit Behind Every Yates Desygn Interior

A finished interior can look effortless. What’s less visible is the number of people it actually takes to make one happen: craftspeople who turn a sketch into something tangible, showroom teams who know their collections inside and out, artists and makers who give a room its individuality, installers who bring it all together in the final days, along with representatives, vendors, photographers, builders, architects, and designers. Great design doesn’t happen alone.

That’s part of what made the Design Ambassador program such a natural fit for us. We’ve always believed in doing great work with great people, and over the past decade, many professional introductions have turned into longstanding collaborations and friendships. Having so many of those people gathered around A Private Affair made the evening about far more than unveiling a room. It was a chance to appreciate everyone behind it.

Why Dallas Design Week 2026 Continues to Shape Yates Desygn

Dallas Design Week 2026 was a fitting reminder of why we’re still excited to design and build our business here. We began the week listening and thinking about how to keep improving the experience we create for our clients. We ended it inside a room that represented our own point of view, surrounded by many of the people who helped bring it to life.

To Ileana Saldivia and her team at Dallas Market Center, Business of Home, Kaitlin Petersen, Williams Cigars, our showroom and vendor partners, fellow designers, friends, and everyone who joined us throughout the week: thank you for making Dallas Design Week 2026, and the unveiling of A Private Affair, such a memorable experience.

The room may have been called A Private Affair. But the evening was meant to be shared.

Thoughtful homes begin with conversation

Design is personal, and the best results come from understanding how you live and what you value most.
