Humble Hosts

Humble Hosts

An artful desert-inspired retreat: This Dallas residence is a study in balance—earthy yet tailored, expressive yet serene. Designed by Yates Desygn, the home reflects the personalities and passions of its residents: a married couple—one a music professor, the other a therapist—who had made the house their home for many years and share a deep appreciation for the art and soul of Santa Fe.

Drawing from the homeowners’ collection of Southwestern artwork, Yates Desygn layered warm textures and a rich palette with the clean, streamlined lines of mid-century modernism and the homeowners’ own collected pieces. Working within the original footprint, the team reimagined the interiors through a curated approach to furniture, lighting, and artful objects. A nearly 15-foot custom sofa stretches across the main living space, anchoring a room that feels equal parts gallery and sanctuary.

Materials were chosen for depth and integrity—plaster, leather, steel, and native woods—each contributing to a quietly luxurious narrative. The result is a home that feels deeply personal, effortlessly composed, and entirely of place: a soulful setting where artistry and introspection thrive in harmony.
